History
George Bruinsma commenced his building career as a carpenter,
beginning his apprenticeship at age 16.
At age
32 he began building his own spec homes. The plan in the
beginning was to build one or two homes a year, this way George
could do all the carpentry work himself. Since that time, with
the help of his wife Fay, he has been successful in building a
business that has had contracts to build more than 70
homes/units a year.
Although George and Fay are
now looking forward to a well earned break they are still very
involved with the day to day running of the business.
The secret to the success of the business is by providing a
customer based service. This is done by being flexible and
allowing the client to create their dream home, not restricting
them to certain products or suppliers.
Gavin
Bruinsma started life in the building industry from a very young
age and was always involved in various areas of the business as
he grew up. After graduating from year 12, Gavin went on to
complete an ‘Associate Diploma in Architectural Drafting’ which
led to a period of working as a draftsman for various drafting
companies. During this period he also completed a ‘Diploma of
Building and Design’.
In 1999 Gavin commenced
working for G & F Bruinsma as a supervisor. During this time, he
has grown in experience and knowledge taking on the precedence
set by George and Fay.
In 2004 Gavin
successfully gained his own Builders license. GK Bruinsma Homes
was born, Gavin as the registered builder and Kim, his wife,
working behind the scenes. GK Bruinsma Homes has progressively
grown, with all work based in the same office as G & F Bruinsma,
using the same trades and suppliers. While GK Bruinsma Homes
continue to grow, G & F Bruinsma are slowly reducing their
business. Eventually all work will be done as GK Bruinsma Homes.
